About Advent House

Advent House is a residential care home in Wakefield, providing support to people with a learning disability and autistic people. Details of the most recent CQC findings are set out below.

Advent House is a residential care home providing support to up to 10 people with a learning disability and autistic people, with 7 living there at the time of assessment. The CQC rated the service inadequate overall, finding breaches relating to safeguarding, person-centred care and governance. Inspectors found limited activities, poor oversight of care records, and an unclean environment, though staff observed showed genuine care towards people.

Heavy reliance on agency staff left some people without consistent, skilled support, and relatives raised serious concerns about safety and communication. Reviews with families had lapsed for long periods. Some relatives noted improvements since a new registered manager arrived, though most feedback remained negative.
