Abbey House

Abbey House provides care and accommodation to eight people with learning disabilities, sensory impairments, or physical disabilities, with a specialisation in supporting people with Prader-Willi syndrome. The service prioritises promoting people's independence and developing their skills. Staff support people to have maximum choice and control over their lives, using the least restrictive approaches possible and involving people in managing their own risks whenever feasible. The service demonstrates a culture of positive risk-taking with staff anticipating and managing risk in person-centred ways.

However, feedback from people and relatives about safety was mixed. There were occasions when people living at the service experienced emotional distress which affected the wellbeing of others.
