Date of assessment: 15 April and 16 April 2026.
Worsley Lodge is a residential care home providing accommodation for up to 48 people; at the time of the assessment, 44 individuals were using the service. The home is arranged over two floors, with lift access available. The service was last inspected in November 2018, when it received a rating of “Good.”
Staffing levels were not always sufficient to ensure timely care delivery, particularly during busy periods, which meant people did not always receive care and treatment to meet their specific needs. However, people living at Worsley Lodge were safeguarded from harm and staff demonstrated a good understanding of individuals’ health conditions and associated risks. Systems were in place to identify, record, and respond to incidents.
At this assessment we identified breaches of regulation regarding safe staffing levels and governance. Staffing pressures affected the consistency of care, at times, staff appeared rushed, which limited opportunities for meaningful interaction and compassionate engagement.
The registered manager carried out checks, including daily walkarounds of the service and audits of care documents, however a more robust oversight of the service was needed as these checks had not identified the concerns we found on this assessment. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
