About Woodthorne Care Home

Woodthorne Care Home is a residential care home in Walsall, providing personal and nursing care to older adults. Details of the CQC's most recent findings are set out below.

This residential care home provides personal and nursing care to 14 people aged 65 and over, with capacity for up to 21 residents. Staff demonstrated good knowledge of safeguarding procedures and understood how to report concerns of abuse. They were familiar with individual risks and implemented appropriate safety measures to protect residents.

The home maintained adequate staffing levels and administered medicines safely.

However, quality assurance systems required improvement to ensure audit findings were properly documented and followed up with recorded actions. Care plans also needed to be more comprehensive, containing all necessary information to enable consistent support from staff. The home had implemented systems to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
