Woodlands Residential Home

Woodlands Residential Home provides personal care to 27 people aged 65 and over, including those living with dementia. At the time of inspection, 13 residents were living in the two-storey building located in a rural area. The home maintained high standards of cleanliness and was well-presented throughout. Inspectors noted that the service accessed the government testing scheme to promptly identify potential outbreaks and worked closely with the local authority infection prevention and control team and other health professionals to manage health risks. The home had invested in adaptations including clear screening and mobile handwashing facilities strategically placed to minimise cross-infection risks.

Staff received clear communication about hygiene practices and PPE stations and hand sanitising points were appropriately positioned around the home. Adequate supplies of personal protective equipment, including disposable masks, gloves and aprons, were readily available. People isolating in their rooms maintained regular contact with staff who wore PPE appropriately, and staff supported residents to keep in touch with family and friends by phone and online.
