Winchester House

Winchester House provides residential care for up to 11 people with learning disabilities and autism. During the inspection, staff did not consistently keep people safe from harm, with identified risks relating to constipation, epilepsy, choking, and challenging behaviours that could have been managed more safely. Some agency staff had not read people's care plans and were unfamiliar with essential safety information including fire safety procedures.

The home's training and supervision systems required improvement. Staff had not consistently received regular supervision and appraisal, although the new manager had begun addressing this issue. Additionally, some restrictions on people's freedom had not been properly assessed in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
