Whitehaven Care Home

Whitehaven Care Home provides personal care to up to 23 older people, including those with physical disabilities, sensory impairment, dementia and mental health needs. The home is a converted domestic property across two floors with bedroom accommodation, communal bathrooms, dining areas and lounges, plus level access to the garden. At inspection, 22 people were using the service.

Inspectors found that people's needs were properly assessed and care was provided according to their individual needs and preferences. Processes were in place to share safeguarding concerns with the local authority. However, improvements were still needed in infection prevention and control practices and risk assessment procedures to ensure a consistent approach. Staff received mixed feedback regarding staffing levels, though the service had made progress since the previous inspection in delivering effective care.
