Westgreen House

Westgreen House provides nursing and personal care to up to 45 residents, predominantly older people including those living with dementia. At inspection, 32 people were using the service, accommodated across two floors of an adapted building with one unit specializing in dementia support. Inspectors found that risks to residents had not always been sufficiently assessed, planned and managed. Staff had not received adequate training in best practice guidance to safely support people with distressed behaviours, and the home was advised on staff deployment improvements. Care plans did not always reflect residents' individual needs and preferences, meaning some people were not receiving the care and support they required. While the provider had systems to protect people from abuse, one incident was not promptly reported to CQC, preventing relevant agencies from monitoring residents' safety effectively.
