Washwood Healthcare Service

Washwood Healthcare Service is a residential care home in Birmingham providing accommodation and support to older people, younger adults and people living with mental health conditions, dementia, sensory impairment or physical disabilities. It was supporting 22 people when inspectors carried out this follow-up assessment, and the CQC found the service had made the improvements needed since a previous warning notice over infection control, resulting in an overall rating of good.

Some issues remained around medicines management, including out-of-date stock and missing risk assessments for blood thinning medication, and a few areas needed additional cleaning; these were addressed promptly during the assessment. Staff were described as kind and attentive, people felt safe and involved in their care, and the service was found to be well led with good learning and support systems in place.
