Upalong Residential Home

Upalong Residential Home accommodates up to nine older people, some living with dementia, in a converted residence with single and shared en-suite rooms. At inspection, eight people were resident at the service. Staff actively supported residents to maintain contact with family and friends through phone calls and in-person visits, including window visits to minimise infection risk. The home maintained good supplies of personal protective equipment and had isolation plans in place for COVID-19 cases. A meet and greet protocol screened visitors, took temperatures, and provided PPE as needed.

The building was clean and well-maintained. Staff received training on pandemic safety, and both staff and residents were regularly tested for COVID-19. Residents' wellbeing was supported through activities tailored to individual preferences, including themed crafts offered on a one-to-one basis or in small groups each day.
