About Thorn Springs

Thorn Springs, in Central Bedfordshire, provides accommodation with personal and nursing care for up to 66 people, including those living with dementia, physical disability or sensory impairment. Sixty people were living there when inspectors visited, and the home is now rated Good overall, having resolved a previous breach relating to governance.

The CQC found people were safe, well cared for and supported to make choices and stay healthy, with detailed care plans and effective checks on quality. Staff were kind and knowledgeable, though busy shifts sometimes limited time for interaction, and mealtimes and communication of information to residents still needed some improvement. Management had responded promptly to these issues, and feedback from people and relatives was largely positive.
