The CQC carried out a focused assessment after receiving concerns, looking at how safely the home operates and how it is led. Overall the service remains rated good, though inspectors found two breaches of regulations relating to safe care and treatment and to governance.

People living at the home and their relatives told inspectors they felt safe and well cared for, with regular checks and involvement in care planning. Despite this positive feedback, the CQC found that some elements of care did not fully meet expected standards.

Thorn Park Care Home is a residential care home for up to 37 older people and people living with dementia. An assessment was carried out due to concerns received by the Care Quality Commission. At the time of this on site assessment there were 36 people living at the service. This assessment activity began on the 22 February 2024 and ended on 20 March 2024. Site visits were carried out on 27 and 28 February 2024. We looked at 2 key questions. Safe; Safeguarding, involving people to manage risk, safe environments, safe and effective staffing, infection prevention and control and medicines optimisation. Well led; Capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders, Freedom to speak up, governance, management and sustainability and partnerships and communities. We found two breaches of the regulations relating to safe care and treatment and governance. At our last inspection this service was rated good. Following this assessment the service was rated good.
