The West Gate

The West Gate provides accommodation and personal care for people who need support with daily living. The CQC rated the home Requires Improvement overall, following an assessment prompted by concerns about how people's safety was managed. Inspectors found risks to people's health had not always been properly assessed, incidents were not consistently reviewed or reported as safeguarding concerns, and management oversight had not driven through needed improvements despite issues being known for months.

On a more positive note, people and relatives said they felt safe and well supported, medicines were managed safely, and staff felt able to raise concerns confidently. Staff supervision and training, along with regular meetings for people and families, were found to need strengthening.
