About Shottendane Nursing Home

Shottendane Nursing Home, in Kent, provides personal and nursing care to up to 38 people across three floors, including some living with dementia and nursing needs. The CQC rated the service Good overall, though the safe key question required improvement. Inspectors found that risks such as constipation and pressure sores were not always managed effectively, and staff did not always follow care plans or recognise signs of risk.

The provider responded quickly once concerns were raised.

Elsewhere the service performed well: medicines, staffing levels, infection control and safeguarding were all satisfactory. People's nutritional and healthcare needs were met, and mental capacity requirements were followed. Relatives praised staff kindness and the homely atmosphere, though some noted inconsistency between staff.
