Eaton Lodge Nursing Home

Eaton Lodge Nursing Home, in Kent, provides nursing care for up to 24 people, most of whom were older people living with dementia. The CQC rated the service as Requires Improvement overall, having previously been rated good. Inspectors found breaches relating to safe care and governance, including concerns about hydration, constipation risks, medicines management and environmental safety issues such as a blocked fire exit and a broken alarm.

Despite this, staff knew people well and responded to them with kindness and patience. There were enough staff, recruitment checks were carried out properly, and medicines were stored and disposed of safely. People and relatives spoke positively about the care provided, though the CQC said governance needed strengthening to catch and address problems before they occurred.
