The Thatched House

The home accommodates up to 20 people over 65, including those living with dementia. At inspection, 18 people were resident. Several areas required attention: bedrooms and bathrooms were not adequately maintained, infection control systems were not robust, and recruitment practices had gaps in safety checks. Staff training and quality monitoring systems also needed strengthening. However, residents reported being happy, with relatives praising the care provided. One family member noted, "The care is very good" and another commented, "Staff are all nice and kind, people are well looked after." Staffing levels were adequate to provide safe care, and staff demonstrated knowledge of individual needs and competence in administering medicines. Protection from abuse was in place, though environmental improvements were necessary to support dignity and comfort.
