About The Royd

The Royd is a residential care home in Birmingham, providing support to adults with mental health needs. Details of the Care Quality Commission's most recent findings are set out below.

The Royd is a residential care home providing support to adults with mental health needs, across three linked houses offering varying levels of support. The CQC found that governance and oversight were not sufficiently robust, with delays in addressing safety concerns such as fire doors, missing window restrictors and rubbish disposal, resulting in a breach of legal regulations.

Despite this, inspectors found staff genuinely committed and compassionate, knowing people well and creating a caring atmosphere. People and relatives generally felt safe and well cared for, praising food choices and healthcare support, though some wanted more activities and better staffing levels. The provider began strengthening governance following feedback.
