The Rookery

The Rookery provides personal care for up to 36 people aged 18 and over living with learning disabilities or autism, operating from one large converted house and separate self-contained cottage units. At inspection, 35 people were residing at the service. Staff demonstrated detailed understanding of individual needs and risks, with robust management plans in place. People were kept informed about COVID-19, vaccination, and restrictions through accessible formats, while staff supported residents on social distancing, personal protective equipment use, and hand hygiene for safe community access.

During the visit, residents participated in activities including puzzles and social coffee breaks, helping prevent isolation. While people expressed missing face-to-face contact with family and friends, staff facilitated alternative ways of maintaining relationships through video calls and social media. Staff had implemented detailed risk management plans to support people during isolation while protecting their mental health and wellbeing.
