The Ridings Care Home

The following is CQC's published account of its assessment, published 14 August 2025. References to “we” mean CQC. It describes findings at that time.

Date of assessment: 11 June to 30 June 2025. The Ridings Care Home is a nursing home providing support to adults of all ages living with dementia and with nursing needs. They also support people with learning disabilities and autistic people, and people with acquired brain injuries. It is a purpose built care home across 3 floors. People have their own bedrooms and shared living, dining and garden areas. The Ridings Care Home is registered to accommodate 83 people. There were 42 people living at the service at the time of the assessment. The home was divided into 4 areas which were in use at the time of our assessment. Two areas were for people requiring nursing care. The assessment was completed to review the progress of the service since our last inspection in September 2024, in which we found 5 breaches of regulation. The breaches were about the safety of the care provided to people, a failure to always seek consent from people, a lack of regard for people’s dignity and need for respect, a failure to ensure care was person centred and poor systems of governance. At this inspection we found significant improvements had been made and that the service was no longer in breach of any regulations. We saw that people were supported to manage risks to their health and wellbeing safely. Staff obtained people’s consent whenever possible before providing care. They understood people may have capacity to make some decisions but need help with others. People were treated with dignity and respect. Systems were in place to monitor and improve the quality of care provided. These systems were effective. We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
