The Long Brook Residential Home

The Long Brook Residential Home provides care and accommodation for up to 24 older people. Residents consistently reported being happy and well cared for by kind and compassionate staff. Relatives were complimentary about the standard of care and said they would recommend the service to others.

However, the service was not always operating in accordance with regulations and best practice guidance. Quality monitoring systems were either absent or not robust enough to identify concerns and shortfalls. Where risks had been identified, sufficient action was not always taken to mitigate them and keep people safe. Medicines were not always managed or stored safely, and people were not consistently supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives in the least restrictive way possible. Safe recruitment procedures were not always followed.
