The Lodge

The Lodge provides personal care for up to eight younger adults with learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. The home has a domestic design that blends into the residential area with no identifying signage or cameras, and staff avoid wearing uniforms when out with people.

However, the inspection found significant concerns. People's behaviour was not always safely managed, and restraint was not used for the shortest possible time. Staffing levels were sometimes insufficient to meet people's identified needs safely. Staff were not consistently following current government guidance on COVID-19 and personal protective equipment. While people received their medicines appropriately and staff were trained to administer them safely, there was a lack of oversight that meant potential safety risks were not addressed. The home's quality monitoring systems were ineffective and had failed to identify these areas requiring improvement.
