The Lodge

The Lodge, in North Yorkshire, provides accommodation and personal or nursing care for up to 8 adults, including people with a learning disability or autism. Following concerns about people's safety, the CQC's rating fell from good to requires improvement, with breaches found in safeguarding, staffing, person-centred care and governance. Inspectors found staff had not always completed necessary training, incidents were not consistently reviewed, and care plans lacked longer-term goals.

Inspectors did find warm, respectful interactions between staff and people, and relatives spoke positively, with one saying their family member had "blossomed" there. The home was clean and welcoming, but management and auditing systems were not robust enough to identify problems or drive improvement.
