The Firs Residential Care Home

The Firs is a residential care home providing personal care for up to 29 people, including older and younger adults, those living with dementia, and people with physical disabilities. Currently 21 people use the service, which is housed in one adapted building with shared communal areas on the ground floor and single occupancy bedrooms across two floors.

The quality of the service, building and facilities had significantly declined since the last inspection. The provider lacked robust oversight, failing to respond promptly to repairs and safety concerns raised. Fire safety risks, cleanliness issues and environmental health risks were identified, resulting in referrals to external agencies. Accident and incident records lacked sufficient detail to identify patterns, trends or actions needed to reduce risks to people.
