The Fairways

The Fairways is a residential care home providing personal care to 60 people, with 51 currently being supported. The service, managed by the Methodist Homes charitable organisation, offers en-suite rooms and self-contained apartments across two floors, with the ground floor dedicated to supporting people living with dementia. People and relatives praised the care, describing staff as kind and caring. Staff were respectful and encouraging of people's cultures and beliefs, and supported people to have maximum choice and control of their lives in the least restrictive way possible.

However, inspectors identified some internal challenges. Although staffing levels had minimal impact on people's care, staff consistently felt there were insufficient numbers. A divide existed in staff culture, with many care staff reporting poor working relationships with senior care staff. While the registered manager had responded to inspection findings, not all issues had been identified during the service's own assessments of service delivery.
