The Elms

The Elms provides residential care for up to 29 older people, some living with dementia, and was supporting 27 people at the time of the assessment. The CQC found the service was performing well overall. Risks were managed safely, staffing had recently been reviewed to ensure adequate cover, and recruitment checks protected people.

Staff worked well with health professionals, and care was planned around good practice guidance.

Management changes during 2024 brought some benefits and some difficulties, though inspectors found no evidence this had harmed people's care. Governance was being reviewed to strengthen oversight. Relatives gave largely positive feedback about staff, safety, food and activities, with mixed views on staffing levels and a wish for continued improvements in communication.
