The Elms Care Home

The Elms Care Home provides personal care and support for people, and was in the process of changing its registration to a care home without nursing. The CQC rated it Requires Improvement overall, finding breaches relating to safe care, safeguarding and governance, including ineffective fire doors, poor infection control and unsafe manual handling.

Inspectors also found meals were not always prepared to meet individual needs, risking choking, and some people could not leave freely. Care plans lacked detail and call bell response times were slow. Feedback on caring and daily support was largely positive, and new managers had begun addressing shortfalls, though improvements were not yet embedded.
