The Conifers

The Conifers is a care home providing personal care to 28 people with learning disabilities, with capacity for up to 30 residents. The accommodation comprises a main building plus nine separate self-contained flats on the same site. The service maintains high cleanliness standards with a comprehensive cleaning schedule that includes frequent sanitisation of high-touch areas such as door handles, and windows are kept open to support good ventilation.

The provider has implemented robust visitor management systems, checking vaccination status and requiring negative lateral flow tests before entry, with trained staff available to support visitors with testing. The team manager demonstrates strong understanding of how the pandemic affects residents and has made reasonable adjustments to keep people safe while meeting their needs. Where residents lack capacity to consent to COVID-19 tests or vaccinations, the provider ensures decisions are made in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
