The Cedars

The Cedars, in North Somerset, provides care for up to 28 people and had 24 residents at the time of assessment. The CQC rated the home Requires Improvement overall, finding a breach of good governance relating to gaps in care planning, risk assessments, best interest decisions and premises maintenance. Some improvements had been made around mental capacity assessments, though these were not consistently applied.

Staff were described by people and relatives as friendly, kind and professional, and healthcare professionals gave positive feedback about ongoing improvements. However, inspectors found shortfalls in meal choices, drink access and support attending appointments, and asked the provider for an action plan to address the concerns identified.
