The Cedars

The Cedars provides accommodation and personal care for up to 28 older people, with 17 residents at the time of inspection. The home is set over two levels with communal areas including a lounge and dining room. Fire safety actions have been completed and environmental upgrades are ongoing. People told inspectors they were happy at the service, and the home is fully staffed with improved recruitment processes in place.

However, improvements are needed in several areas. Care planning information requires further development to be person-centred and accurate. Staff do not consistently support people to have maximum choice and control over their lives in the least restrictive way possible. The policies and systems do not adequately support this practice. Additionally, the service must ensure that people's consent and capacity are properly assessed in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
