Sycamore Rise Residential Care Home

Sycamore Rise provides residential care to up to 32 people across three floors, supporting younger adults, older people, those living with dementia, and people requiring mental health support. At inspection, 28 people were using the service. Despite people and families reporting they felt the service was safe, inspectors found significant concerns with medicines management, with systems and processes not robust enough to ensure medications were administered and disposed of safely. Risk assessments were not consistently in place, and environmental risks were not always identified and managed effectively.

Recruitment processes lacked appropriate checks, and whilst the service maintained safe staffing levels, it increasingly relied on agency staff due to recruitment difficulties and sickness absences. Infection prevention and control practices were also found to be inadequate. The inspectors recommended the service strengthen its recruitment and staffing systems to address these gaps.
