Swarthdale Nursing Home

This residential care home provides personal care to up to 43 people, including older people with physical disabilities, those living with dementia, and those experiencing frailty due to ageing. At the time of inspection, 23 people were living in the home across two floors that have been adapted to meet residents' needs.

However, inspectors found significant concerns with safety and protection. Not all risks to residents' safety had been identified and managed, and health and safety management was inadequate. Some staff had not completed required training related to providing safe care. While the registered manager reported concerns about abuse to the local authority, not all incidents were reported to all relevant people and reviewed appropriately. The provider had not ensured effective oversight of the quality and safety of the service, leaving people at risk of harm and preventing them from receiving high quality care.
