St Oggs

St Oggs is a residential home providing care and support for up to 21 adults with mental health conditions. The CQC rated the service as Requires Improvement overall. Inspectors found gaps in risk assessment around alcohol use and mental health, inconsistent application of the Mental Capacity Act and DoLS, and staffing levels that did not always meet people's needs.

Governance systems had not identified these shortfalls.

Despite this, people spoke highly of staff and the registered manager, describing care with kindness, respect and understanding of their individual preferences. Some people said they did not always feel safe around others who were unwell or intoxicated, and felt staff numbers limited one-to-one time.
