St Mary's Care Home

St Mary's provides personal and nursing care for up to 54 people, predominantly older people with physical and nursing needs. At inspection, 44 people were using the service in an adapted two-storey building. The provider's governance systems had not always been followed and actions were not consistently reviewed to ensure risks to people's health and safety were fully resolved. Management changes had hindered progress on improvements.

People and relatives were positive about the caring nature of regular staff and had developed good relationships with them, contributing to a friendly culture. However, people had limited opportunities for activities or social engagement. Although the provider attempted to maintain adequate staffing levels, frequent staff changes meant the home relied on temporary and agency staff. Staff reported limited time to spend with people but prioritised keeping them safe. The premises had not been redecorated recently, with several areas appearing worn, dark, or cluttered.
