St Giles Charity Estates

Nicholas Rothwell House provides support and personal care for up to 20 older people, offering both short and long term placements. The purpose-built facility has all rooms on the ground floor along with communal lounge and dining areas, and accessible outdoor gardens. On the day of inspection, 16 people were living at the service.

The home had implemented strong infection control measures, including a dedicated isolation corridor for new admissions and those returning from hospital stays. Enhanced procedures were in place with checklists each time staff entered isolation rooms. All new arrivals were required to have a negative COVID-19 test immediately prior to admission, and the service ran a regular testing programme for both staff and residents. Safe visitor arrangements were established, including a perspex screen across patio doors that allowed residents in the lounge to spend time with relatives visiting outside.
