St Brigas Residential Home For Adults with Learning Disabilities

St Brigas Residential Home for Adults with Learning Disabilities provides personal care to up to 17 people with learning disabilities. At the time of inspection, the service was supporting 16 residents. Staff had received training in infection prevention control and demonstrated good understanding of how to use personal protective equipment safely. Throughout the home, staff had access to PPE and hand sanitiser, and people were encouraged to wear surgical face masks when attending activities or in the local community.

Improvements were needed in some areas. Not all clinical waste bins were pedal bin types, which meant people and staff could be exposed to cross infection risks. Additionally, paper hand towels were not consistently available in all communal bathrooms and toilets on the day of inspection, despite records confirming staff refilled dispensers daily. These gaps in hygiene provisions required attention to ensure safe standards across the home.
