SignHealth Bowfell Road

Signhealth Bowfell Road provides residential care for up to six deaf people with mental health needs. Each person has their own self-contained flat, with communal spaces including a lounge, garden, staff office and sleep-in room. The service delivers highly person-centred care, with people fully engaged in planning their support and activities. Staff use visual communication methods and innovative role-playing techniques to help people make choices and decisions. Visual care plans are developed with individuals choosing the pictures or photographs used. Risks are assessed and well managed, and the service promotes people's involvement in their care through accessible methods. An independent advocate visits at least every three months to discuss any issues and support people to express their views.
