Shear Meadow

Shear Meadow provides accommodation and personal care for up to four people with learning disabilities, autism or mental health conditions. At the time of inspection, all four places were occupied. The service had implemented strong infection control measures, including health screening and temperature checks for all visitors, with clear guidance displayed and personal protective equipment required. Staff facilitated various types of visits for families and friends, including window visits, garden visits and socially distanced gatherings, all pre-arranged and scheduled to minimise infection risks.

The service demonstrated thorough risk assessments for people and staff wellbeing. Its layout allowed effective staff allocation, with each staff member assigned to work with one person in their self-contained apartment, reducing potential infection transmission between residents and staff. The provider had developed comprehensive policies and procedures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with management oversight and regular infection prevention and control audits in place to maintain standards.
