Seaview Haven

Seaview Haven, in Ilfracombe, Devon, provides accommodation and personal care for up to 72 older people, most living with dementia. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, following up on earlier concerns about food safety, infection control and leadership. Inspectors found continued breaches around safe care, staffing and governance, plus new concerns about nutrition and the premises, including poor kitchen hygiene.

Staff were generally kind and attentive, but low staffing levels sometimes meant slow responses and compromised dignity. Meal choices did not always meet people's preferences, care plans lacked personal involvement, and activities were limited. There was no registered manager in post at the time of the assessment.
