Alban House Residential Care Home

Alban House is a residential care home in Devon providing care and support to up to 23 older people, with 14 living there at the time of assessment. The service is rated Requires Improvement overall, having previously been in Special Measures. Inspectors found significant improvements, with the provider no longer in breach of regulations covering safety, consent, dignity and staffing, though work on risk management, training gaps and governance still needed embedding.

People told inspectors they felt safe, well cared for and able to raise concerns, praising kind, attentive staff and a clean, homely environment. Medicines, nutrition and activities had all improved, with a new activities coordinator supporting person-centred engagement. The CQC found caring, effective and responsive care to be Good, while safety and leadership remained rated Requires Improvement.
