Scholars Mews Care Home

Scholars Mews Care Home provides accommodation and personal care for up to 64 people, with 30 living there at the time of assessment. The home had previously been rated inadequate and placed in special measures, but the CQC found significant improvement, with the service now rated good overall.

Inspectors found people were safeguarded from abuse and harm, with better staffing levels, safer medicines management and improved oversight. Staff were kind and person-centred, and quality checks were now effective. However, gaps remained around consent, mental capacity assessments, monitoring health changes and involving people and relatives in care planning, and there was still no registered manager in post.
