Riverside House

Riverside House, in Northumberland, provides accommodation and personal care for up to 46 older people, including those living with dementia. The CQC rated the home Requires Improvement, finding breaches of regulations relating to safe care and treatment, and to good governance. Inspectors identified shortfalls in medicines management, nutrition, falls management and catheter care, following a period of significant management upheaval that had affected staff morale and consistency of care.

Despite this, the CQC found staff were kind and caring, recruitment practices were safe, and infection control was effective. People and relatives said they felt safe, though frequent staff changes and use of agency staff at night had affected continuity of care. A new manager had recently begun making improvements, but these had not yet become fully embedded.
