About Richmond House

Richmond House is a care home in Wakefield providing personal care for up to five people with learning disabilities and/or autism. Four people were living there at the time of the assessment. The CQC rated the service Good overall, finding it met the "right support, right care, right culture" principles for people with learning disabilities and autistic people.

Inspectors found staff knew people well and provided person-centred, kind support, with enough staff on duty and clear risk assessments in place. Care plans were detailed, the home was clean and personalised, and the provider followed Mental Capacity Act principles. People and relatives spoke positively, with feedback praising communication and the quality of care received.

Richmond House is a care home providing personal care for up to 5 people with learning disabilities and, or autism. At the time of our assessment there were 4 people living at the service. This was the first assessment for this newly registered service. It commenced on 14 January 2026 and was completed on 28 January 2026. This included 2 visits to the service on 14 and 19 January 2026.
We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found people received care and support in accordance with the principles of this guidance.
Right support: Support plans and risk assessments identified potential risks to people’s safety. Staff knew people’s needs well and how to support them. Our observations of staff supporting people confirmed staff had a person-centred approach. There were suitable numbers of staff available to meet people's assessed needs.
Right care: Staff told us they were provided with sufficient information and guidance for them to provide safe care and reduce risk. We found care was in line with people’s needs. The provider made sure people could access the care, support and treatment they needed when they needed it.
Right culture: We received positive feedback about the staff working at the service. People’s care and support plans were detailed and reflected any changes to their health and wellbeing. Quality assurance systems and processes were in place to ensure safety and quality improvement. The provider adhered to the principles of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and people were supported with their consent and in their best interests. The service was clean, and the environment personalised.
