Poplars Care Centre

This residential care home provides personal and nursing care to 45 people aged 65 and over, including those living with dementia, with capacity for up to 71 across two separate wings. Staff received training on safeguarding and demonstrated understanding of how to protect people from abuse. Residents spoke fondly of their carers, who were observed treating people with kindness while respecting their privacy and dignity. Staffing levels were adequate to meet residents' needs, and nurses safely managed medicines after receiving appropriate training and competency assessments.

However, care records did not always contain relevant information needed to keep people safe, and despite regular reviews and audits, these shortfalls were not identified or addressed. The home assessed environmental risks and maintained systems to reduce harm, including regular checks of fire equipment and mobility aids. Staff worked with external healthcare professionals to support residents' health and wellbeing.
