Penwortham Grange and Lodge

Penwortham Grange and Lodge provides personal care and support for older people, with staff getting to know residents' individual preferences well. Inspectors found a mostly positive, well-run service where people felt safe, staff were recruited safely, and safeguarding and incident monitoring worked effectively. Staff understood people's needs and worked well with health professionals, and management was well regarded by residents, relatives and staff.

However, the CQC identified a breach relating to safe management of medicines, and found that governance around recent shortfalls was still being embedded rather than fully in place. Residents and relatives spoke positively about staff, describing a comfortable, lively atmosphere, though some felt more staff would help. The provider has been asked for an action plan to address these concerns.
