Could the NHS fund Oakhill House Care Home's fees?
NHS Continuing Healthcare could cover 100% of care costs with no means test.
Oakhill House Care Home provides personal and nursing care to up to 49 people, primarily older adults and those living with dementia. At the time of inspection, 30 people were using the service, which operates across two floors though only one floor was in active use.
The home had significant safeguarding concerns. Staff reported incidents of potential harm and abuse between 2020 and 2021 that were not investigated or reported to external agencies at the time. Once discovered, investigations were completed and measures implemented to reduce risk. These incidents were subsequently reported to the local authority safeguarding team, CQC, police and relatives. Additionally, the provider identified uninvestigated safety incidents including falls, serious injuries and choking events. While action has been taken in response, further improvement is needed in how the home manages risks to people.
