Aspen Place

Aspen Place is a residential care home supporting up to 52 people, including younger and older adults with physical disabilities, dementia, or learning disabilities. At inspection, 50 people were using the service. Residents and relatives raised concerns about staffing levels and response times to call bells. One resident said, "They tell you to ring the bell. The wait times varies," while relatives reported instances of delayed responses, particularly at weekends when staffing appeared lower. The provider was monitoring staffing levels to improve timeliness of support.

Care was not always person-centred, with some people having limited opportunities to participate in activities due to reliance on staff facilitation. The inspector recommended expanding environmental adaptations to better support people living with dementia. While people's healthcare needs were generally met and some healthcare professionals praised staff engagement, visiting professionals occasionally reported delays in contacting community healthcare services.
