Northwood Nursing & Residential Care

Northwood Nursing and Residential Care provides accommodation and nursing care for up to 27 people across three floors. At inspection, 22 people were using the service. While residents spoke highly of staff and felt safe living there, they expressed concerns about staffing levels. Staff had received safeguarding training, though governance systems were not always effective in ensuring consistent practice.

Significant concerns were identified with medicines management and safety procedures. Mobility care plans and risk assessments did not always reflect current needs and contained conflicting information. Infection control processes were not consistently followed, and recruitment procedures required strengthening. Staff had limited knowledge of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, and people's consent was not always sought before care decisions. The service worked well with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care, and the building had been adapted to meet residents' needs.
