Could the NHS fund New Witheven's fees?
NHS Continuing Healthcare could cover 100% of care costs with no means test.
New Witheven accommodates up to ten people with learning disabilities, with eight permanent residents and two receiving respite services at the time of inspection. Located in rural North Cornwall, the service provides care alongside a day centre. The grounds include various outbuildings used for craft sessions and workshops, plus a vegetable garden with raised beds and polytunnels for therapeutic activities.
The service maintains a good standard of care. Staff support residents in accessing meaningful activities both within the day centre and through the on-site facilities, enabling engagement with productive pursuits and outdoor work. The rural setting and purpose-built amenities allow residents to participate in activities suited to their interests and abilities.
