Mayflower Court

Mayflower Court provides personal care for older people and those living with dementia, supporting up to 72 residents. At the time of inspection, 53 people were living at the home. Residents were safe from harm and abuse, with good risk assessments in place and detailed support plans tailored to individual needs and preferences. Medicines were managed safely and the home was kept clean. Staff supported residents to make choices about their care and treatment, respecting their privacy and dignity whilst promoting independence.

However, some areas needed improvement. Residents felt food quality was inconsistent, described as "hit and miss". Some people's assessments were not updated in line with guidance, creating risks to outcomes such as wound healing and nutritional management. The home worked well with healthcare professionals to ensure residents accessed necessary services. Person-centred care was sometimes compromised by levels of agency staffing and overall staffing levels. Staff treated residents with kindness and compassion, though higher staffing levels would better support individualised care.
