Loran House

This residential care home provides personal care to up to 46 people, including younger and older adults, some living with dementia. At inspection, 35 people were using the service. Staff were recruited safely and had received safeguarding training, understanding their role in protecting people from abuse. There were enough staff to keep people safe, and inspectors observed staff respecting people's privacy and dignity when providing care.

However, information about risks to people's safety was not always comprehensive or up to date, and this information was not always fully communicated to staff. Medicine practices did not consistently follow best practice guidelines. While a system existed to monitor the quality and safety of the service, it was not always effective in identifying and addressing issues. Staff supported people to have choice and control in their lives using the least restrictive approach, though the service's policies and systems did not always reflect this practice.
