Little Hayes

Little Hayes, on the Isle of Wight, is a care home providing nursing and personal care for up to 34 people, including older people, younger adults and those living with dementia, mental health needs, sensory impairment or physical disability. Following a responsive assessment prompted by concerns about incident and risk management, the CQC rated the home Requires Improvement overall and found breaches of five legal regulations covering consent, safe care, premises safety, notifications and governance.

Inspectors found risks such as exposed hot water pipes and missing radiator covers had not been managed, medicines were not always stored safely, and mental capacity assessments were incomplete. Oversight and audits had failed to pick up these issues. However, staff were found to be kind and respectful, and relatives said they felt their loved ones were safe and well cared for.
